so a week after my senior xc season i decide to run a road race in my spikes to retire them as it were. it worked out quite well with blanks in but one was digging into my foot the entire time. anyway after a long day at school i go home relax then at 5:45 drive down to the river bottems and get the shirt warm up etc etc... Race started a little late but not much and I knew i could be top 5 alteast listening to the other guys but my main goal was sub 33. I had walked the course pretty much last week and knew where i was going so i was prepared. I followed Chad and another guy and a girl running the mile. I was in 3rd and didnt let anyone pass me the whole race.

Mile 1 6:16 was quick from the gun and i just worked on form and not letting anyone pass me and throwing in some surges on the turns

Mile 2 6:29 totally on the JRP now still trying to stay a head of the pack winch i did and making moves when ever someone else did to stay in the lead.

Mile 3 6:30 under the bridge past the ponds and to the water stand. made the U turn grabbed some water drank a little then got rid of it. I see that Chad has the lead and a some distance between him and #2. still havent looked back to see how many are on my butt.

mile 4 6:41 the blank on the inside of the right foot is start to dig into the foot and i am getting tried from only racing 5ks this season still holding on and doing a lot better breathing than the guys behind me.

mile 5 6:05 now i have to go and i know that i will get something special if i can keep third. the trail goes up hill slightly and i lose one of the sets of heavy breaths. coming and around the bridge i see the ladies telling runners to go though the parking lot but the other guy who is wearing headphones didnt hear them so i see him in the conner of my kicking hard. i dig down and go into the chute before right at 32 minutes and then get scanned and go hurl in some bushes right after.

overall 3rd place and a PR plus a sweet trophy a nice way to end the week
